Attention all Dads. Did you end up with a gift card for Father’s Day and wondering what kind of gadget you might get yourself?  If you’re the kind of guy who likes to buy things that are both useful and practical for both home or office and that can also be shared with the family, then check out the Epson WorkForce WF-3640, an affordable colour inkjet all-in-one that fits those criteria and rivals multifunction lasers.

All-in-one really means 4-in-1.  It prints, copies, scans and yes, it even faxes for the few times you will actually need to. It’s pretty quick too, rated at 19ppm in black and 10ppm in colour and a little more than half that speed when printing double-sided.  It uses the latest DURABrite Ultra pigment ink so it shouldn’t fade or smudge.

The Precision Core printing technology that comes from a dedicated print chip outputs up to a whopping 40 million dots per second. What that mean is that it’s designed to yield accurate colours that are nice and crisp, almost laser quality, but without the laser price tag. You can also save money too on this model as it’s also energy efficient, consuming up to 70% less power compared to a similarly configure multifunction laser printer.

Automatic Two-sided Printing and Scanning

You can also economize on paper with its automatic double-sided printing capabilities. Plus it also has a two-sided document feeder to scan and keep all those warranty cars and bank statements safe. It’s also great at tax time, as the automatic feeder will accept up to 35 pages at one go. You can also scan a single page from its flatbed scanner. Either way, it scans at a 2400 dpi (optical) resolution and up to 9600 dpi with interpolation.

With summer coming up it can help keep the kids busy and out of trouble. It has two large capacity  trays – up to 500 sheets in total, so you’re not changing the paper every two days.  It also has a rear tray for specialty paper like labels, envelopes, cards and card stock. Ideal for arts and crafts and even personalized Father’s Day gifts – well I guess, for next year. I’m sure any Pop, pardon the pun, would appreciate a gift that’s handmade and  being able to eat the contents, too!

It also has built-in Wi-Fi so not only can the whole family print wirelessly from the computer; they can even print from their iPad, iPhone or from other smartphones or tablets.

This 4-in-1 unit also has a built-in intuitive touch screen that makes it even easier to use.

Rebate on now!

The WorkForce WF-3640 retails for $199.99. Until June 27th, 2015,  the Epson Store (Canada) is offering an instant rebate of $80 bringing your cost down to under $120, plus of course your local tax making it a real bargain for what it can do. If you do have a gift card from a local retailer, it might be worth asking them to consider a price match if you were to give them the business.
